Venetian Blinds — Aluminium & Timber

Horizontal slats that tilt to steer light — the most adjustable interior treatment in the range.

Aluminium venetians

25mm slats give a crisp, popular look; 50mm reads bolder with fewer lines across a wide window. They're the moisture champions of the range — bathrooms, kitchens and laundries, where fabric fails over time. Stellenbosch is well inland, so salt air isn't the concern it is on the coast, but a wipe-down after harvest dust settles on window ledges keeps them crisp. A huge colour range, including woodlook finishes, keeps them budget-friendly.

Timber & bamboo venetians

50mm basswood or bamboo slats bring a warm, architectural feel — the natural choice for a heritage home. They suit deep-set sash windows, character cottages and studies, and anywhere a Cape Dutch room wants a real material rather than a synthetic stand-in. Keep them out of high-steam rooms; a quality lacquer handles normal humidity without trouble. They're heavier than aluminium, so very wide windows need splitting or ladder-tape support.

The adjustability argument — the selling core

A roller is open or closed by degrees; a venetian steers light direction — tilt up for glare-free daylight, tilt down for privacy from a neighbouring double-storey wing, close flat for full dark. Homes on a hillside like Paradyskloof or in a valley estate with hour-by-hour sun swings — deep morning shadow, blazing afternoon glare off the vines — get real use out of that control.

Fitting venetians across Stellenbosch

Timber venetians suit the older formal rooms and deep-set sash windows found through Paradyskloof's established houses, the homestead sections of Jonkershoek Valley's wine farms, and the older-style formal rooms found through Welgevonden Estate. On the newer glass-fronted builds of De Zalze, aluminium venetians earn their place in the kitchens and wet areas instead.
